Last week and final presentations to client.....

Before the CSC assignment 4 weeks seemed like such a long time, but it has gone so fast and now it's nearly over.

Into the last week, on Monday we presented to our client,  PUSDALISBANG  on Process Documentation and Staff training. This is an area that they showed keen interest and was very well received with lots of questions and participation.

The rest of Monday and all day Tuesday was spent working on our final presentation, which was given on Wednesday 20th March.

This presentation contained everything we prepared over the last 4 weeks according to the client requirements:
- Database Merge guidelines
- Database Query Optimisation improvement and guidelines
- Automated Reporting
- Network Infrastructure and Cluster guidelines
- Insight to Big Data/Hadoop
- Process Documentation and Staff training
- ITIL Recommendations. IT Infrastructure Library Framework

We also included slides to show photos of our happy memories from our time in Indonesia, all our trips and places we had the good fortune to visit.

After the presentation we all had lunch together and then we were brought to the Governor's office. This is not open to the public, and we had amazing panoramic views of Bandung

On Thursday 21st March we had the closing ceremony, where all 3 CSC teams had the opportunity to present what they did and their accomplishments/deliverables, to the various Heads of Departments and representatives from IBM Indonesia.

Hard to believe the CSC assignment is almost over. Tonight we will have dinner with our client in Bandung. And from tomorrow the team start to travel home or on to other places in Indonesia for some much needed and well deserved vacation.

Working in remote village, Kampung Naga ....

Today the Pusdalisbang team ( myself, Victor, Trupty and Nitin) accompanied our clients to the remote village of Kampung Naga to conduct house to house surveys. We were joined by Pak Andhy, Dino and Dudi,

An early start, 7:00am as we  had a 3 to 4  hour drive to the village.

Ist stop was to visit the local village administrator to get his permission....

After that we started our walk to the village. It was at this point that we realised we were about to experience something that we will never forget. We had to descend approximately 400 steps  and as we descended the views were spectacular...

Upon arrival at the village, Pak Andhy and the team had to meet the RT (or community leader) to request permission to visit and conduct house to house to surveys ...

at this point it was approaching midday and time for prayer. While prayer was taking place, we did a little shopping

After  prayer the house surveys began. This really gave us an insight into how they lived. They have no electricity, no running water and use wood fires to cook. The most difficult house we visited was of a blind lady who has no income and is completely dependent on the community for help

Victor and myself maintained our celebrity status ...

After the surveys, as we ascended the 400 steps, it started to pour down with rain. so heavy, but it didn't stop these scouts from their activities.

On our way back to Bandung we stopped in an amazing place for lunch.. Sheltered from the torrential rain under Bamboo, thunder and lightning, and amazing view of rice fields and mountains

another 3 hours back to Bandung and as we drove in, we were greeted by a beautiful sunset.

If only all work days were like this. A day and an experience none of us will ever forget:-)

Sunday cycling ....

Sunday is Bike day in Bandung. Very popular among the locals, some of the streets are car free from 6:00am to 10:00am.

Prima arranged for 3 bikes to be delivered to our hotel late Saturday night so that myself, Yolande and Maej were ready to set off at 7:00am. Our first stop was Dago, normally a very busy street full of cars. But at 7:30am on a Sunday morning, the street is still full, but only with people and bikes,

There we visited the Mobile Internet Station, organised by DISKOMINFO, ( one of the CSC Clients) to allow people, mainly kids to access the internet.

Here's some photos from the day....
