At the start of November our team kicked off.  Meeting every Thursday we are getting to know each other, introducing ourselves to our fellow team members. Working on our Learning modules and finding about all sorts of logistics from travel arrangements. to visas, to accommodation, to vaccinations etc..

And all eagerly awaiting to find out what our assignments will be and looking forward to engaging with our clients.

Where is Bandung?

Bandung is  the capital of the West Java province in Indonesia, the country's third largest city, with a population of 2.4 million in 2010

Will I or won't I?....

Over the last few years I have always been very interested in the CSC and kept saying to myself I must apply, but always put it off.  This year I decided I wasn't going to put it off any longer. If I didn't do it now, I'd never do it. So in May I finally bit the bullet and submitted my application. Much to my delight, surprise and shock I received the email in June  "Congratulations on your acceptance to the Corporate Service Corps"  It took a long time for it to sink in, that this is really happening. The long wait began to find out where my assignment would be. I tried to put it out of my mind, not knowing if I would find out in 2012 or 2013. 4 months later in October another email arrived in my inbox, when I least expected. "Congratulations! You've been invited to join the CSC Indonesia 4 team" Now it definitely is real.

CSC Indonesia 4 team is made up of 10 people from around the world - USA, Canada, India, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Netherlands and Ireland,  and our assignment is to the city of Bandung from February 22nd to March 23rd, 2013. #ibmcsc Indonesia

What is the Corporate Service Corps?

IBM introduced the Corporate Service Corps program back in 2008. This program increases IBM's understanding and appreciation of growth markets while creating global leaders who are culturally aware and possess advanced teaching skills.

Since its launch in 2008, the Corporate Service Corps program has sent over 1,400 participants on over 120 teams to more than 20 countries around the world. The participants come from over 50 countries and have served communities in Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, the Philippines, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam. The program continues to expand to new locations each year.

IBM sends groups of 10 - 15 individuals from different countries with a range of skills to an emerging market for four week community-based assignments. During the assignment, participants perform community-driven economic development projects working at the intersection of business, technology, and society.
